The Secret To Perfect Snare Tone

Get It Gushy

There are a few different products on the market ranging from $20-$100, depending on what you purchase, to help you find that perfect snare sound. Well, here's a quick and simple way to help you get that "phat", "gushy" sounding snare drum that's FREE! Check it!

Before you put that new head on your snare, flip it over. Take a paper towel and fold it up into a square that's about the size of a wallet. Then get some tape (gaff tape works great) and tape that bad boy down on the bottom side of the head about an inch from the edge. Remember, the closer in to the center you tape it down the less resonance and more flat it will sound. Putting it about an inch from the edge usually does the trick. Keeping it underneath and inside the drum lets it stay out of the way and keeps the top of the head looking clean. This is also just one more way to help yourself to "play to the room." Sshhhhh! Don't tell anyone though. It's our little secret. Speaking of secrets, if you haven't signed up for Worship Artistry's drum lessons you can do it here for free. Your worship leader will wonder how you improved so quickly.

Evans tune key

When you refer to the "second 8" Do you mean go past 8 once and stop on the 8 a second time? I had no idea the thing could even do that. I really like my Evans key.

Yea man you got it! Go past the 8 one time around and stop on the next one. But whatever works for you man. Just crank that bottom head tight.

I just have to change the snare to a 42 strand and I think I got it.

Great song!!

Hey that one by Elevation is actually on the site so you should be able to jump into that one.
