Pick Switch Magic

Never Pause Again.

One of the little annoying things in guitar is that it's a pain to transition from finger picking to a flat pick mid-song. Try this little trick and you'll never pause between changes again.

Some people hold them in their teeth. Some hold them on the mic stand, but both of those places are too distant to make a smooth transition from fingerpicking to flatpicking. This little move will take some practice but it's as necessary a skill as tuning. Learn it!

This is a good way to transition.

I tried this for a while, but fingerstyle for myself means leaving my fingers loose and dextrous. I could never get this to feel quite right when I held the pick. I came across a pick holder recently from a company called- Hogjim. It suctions to my pick guard and holds a pick firmly in place for a really quick transition. Personally, I love it.

Whatever works

Though I will say you'll still end up stuck when you aren't playing your own guitar...

Wise words.

Definitely a good technique to keep in the toolbox brother.

It's awesome

for getting your kids to think you've pulled a quarter from behind their ears as well :)

Excellent display of this technique.

Very well done. I use this technique as well, with a small variation; I slide the pick down to my ring/pinky to rest there allowing me to use my middle finger along with my thumb and index to give me a little more freedom.

Thanks for the tip

We all have different size fingers and that can make a difference too.
