Nord Infatuation

I've been a church keyboardist for years. We have two of these at the two campuses at my current church.

For the life of me I cannot understand the infatuation with Nord. IMHO it's more of a fashion statement. They are outrageously overpriced -- for what they ask you to pay you ought to be getting terabytes of storage. Large learning curve. Interface is extremely limiting -- e.g. 1990s.

Anyone can get a fabulous rompler for half the price. If you go used you can do the same for 1/3. I paid $800 for a gently used mint Krome that's 11 pounds, with a large touch screen interface and I can easily store (and recall) scores and scores of patches.

Nord Infatuation

I agree in some respect. I believe most people buy it because it's RED! The interface is easy to use for beginners, but it is limiting. Plus the fact that there's no sound holdover when you change patches. I'm endorsed by them but I don't own one because they are still too much money for my pocket book. Plus I run everything off of my computer, so It would just be a glorified controller.

Live mode correction

Just wanted to make a correction on the live mode video. Im not sure if it was different with older software versions, but definitely with the latest software for the Stage 2 you don't need to press the store button to save the state of the Live patch. The whole point of the Live mode was that it constantly saves the current state your patch is in. When you make any tweaks to a Live mode patch and switch away from it, the tweaks will be saved and will be the there when you go back to it.

I don't use live mode that often, I use one of the banks, A and have 5 baseline sounds set up which will cover most sunday mornings. Then if I make tweaks mid song when I feel like the song needs it I can always quickly switch out and then back to the patch to reset back to my known baseline. Standard preset behaviour.

I'll only use live mode if I know I'm going to be tweaking the sound mid song and switching to a completely different live patch for a section then switching back to the original live patch with the tweaks still in place.
