Thoughts on "I Speak Jesus" by Here Be Lions

There's something special about worship songs that bring our heavenly reality into our earthly one. I Speak Jesus by Here Be Lions is just such that.

Let’s take a look at the lyrics:

I just want to speak the name of Jesus
Over every heart and every mind
'Cause I know there is peace within your presence
I speak Jesus
I just want to speak the name of Jesus
'Til every dark addiction starts to break
Declaring there is hope and there is freedom
I speak Jesus

'Cause your name is power
Your name is healing Your name is life
Break every stronghold
Shine through the shadows
Burn like a fireI just want to speak the name of Jesus
Over fear and all anxiety
To every soul held captive by depression
I speak Jesus

Your name is power
Your name is healing
Your name is life
Break every stronghold
Shine through the shadows
Burn like the fire

Shout Jesus from the mountains
Jesus in the streets
Jesus in the darkness over every enemy
Jesus for my family
I speak the holy name Jesus

I find myself wanting to go through this song word for word. It calls out real, everyday problems that are close and affect me and people in my life: depression, anxiety, addiction. The healing life and power of Jesus is the answer.

Our world is looking for hope but without Jesus, we’re not going to find it–it’s not on the internet. It’s not even in an awesome worship song tutorial website.

We can read every inspirational quote on Instagram, but it won’t change our hearts. I can know my enneagram backwards and forwards but it won’t heal my soul. Brene Brown is great, but she is not Jesus.

I speak Jesus, the One who is above all. Over my family, over my anxiety, over my business, over my friends, over my time, and over every part of my life. I speak Jesus! Learn it and let’s speak Him together.
