I’ll admit, when I first heard Honey In The Rock by Brooke Ligertwood, I loved every part of the song. Except for the line “there’s honey in the rock”.

Besides being from Psalm 81, Honey In The Rock invokes a clear and creative picture of God’s sweet goodness in places we don’t expect to find it. Honey in the rock, water in a stone, manna on the ground. He has a purpose and a plan, has and will always continue to provide–it’s up to us to look.
When introducing this song in a gathering, point to Psalm 81 as the source. Take time to reflect on where God’s goodness has been found in odd places. Create time for everyone to pray out gratitude. Ask them to be specific! There are those in your community who aren’t seeing God’s goodness presently and hearing others share can be encouraging.
